Make do with what you have

I don't know what the title means, it just sounded good right now. I have decided that every once in a while, I will do a movie review. Here's numbuh one!

North by Northwest
Directed by Alfred Hitchcock

This is quite the movie. There are several scenes in it where I jumped, and I know that if you watch this move, you will jump too. Anyway, this is one incredible movie filled with suspense, chases, murders and romance. Watch it, and your definition of thriller will change completely.

Hey. You don't have a nose!

Eltham Palace

Eltham Palace

Technically, we went to Eltham Palace and Gardens yesterday, but I didn't get the chance to blog. Eltham Palace was actually quite interesting. Everything was really modern except the Great Hall. The Great Hall, which was used by Henry the VIII was damaged during WWII, but it was fixed it all up. Here are some garden pictures.

London Updade

Hello! We've gone to tons of places so far! Sorry I haven't updated much. There have been lots of interesting thing going on in London these days. It doesn't get dark until ten thirty P.M., then gets light at five thirty A.M. It's kind of tiresome, because Spencer wakes up at the crack of dawn and then immediately opens the blinds all the way up. Here's some pics for y'all!

Old London Towne!

Tuesday, June 19th, 2012
We finally arrived in London! And, oh my goodness, I was tired beyond compare! I had major jet lag because we had a seven hour time change. When we got into the Heathrow Airport, we got a shuttle and started off to our flat. (A flat is an apartment, just in Britain.) On the way, we saw this crazy McDonalds.
It looks like an old fashioned mansion, doesn't? I fell asleep on the way to the flat, so I didn't see much. We eventually got to the flat, and I almost forgot my camera in the shuttle, but my Mom saved it. Then we got into the flat, we unpacked then went to a store called Waitrose, then came home at eleven o'clock. I went to sleep until five thirty P.M.

Green Belt!

June 8, 6:00 P.M.
I tested for my green belt and passed! It was really fun, because green is the first high belt, so I get to teach and use weapons. I was supposed to get my belt yesterday, on tuesday, but I went on a zip line, but the zip line broke while I was on it and I scrunched my spine, so I couldn't get my belt. I went to the chiropractor today and he fixed it, so I'm a little sore, but I'm feeling better.

Here are some more books!
2. Variant
This book is really good. The main character is named Benson, and he goes to Maxfield Academy where there is one big rule: You can't escape.
3. Farworld: Earth Keep
Back to Marcus and Kyja! In this book, our heroes have to liberate Farworld from a giant demon who want's to destroy Farworld and Earth! Woah! This is a really good book, just so you know. Read it.

Green Belt

I'm testing for my green belt in karate in June! That means I get to start practicing weapons! You start with Bo Staff, then go to Escrema Sticks, which are a pair of sticks about as long as your forearm. Then there's tonfas. They are like Escrema Sticks, but with handles sticking out of them. Then you get nun chucks! They are so COOL! And then there are Sais, which are dagger type of things. Then you choose your mastery weapon, which can be katana, hook sword, fan, or any other weapons you've practiced with! I'M SO EXCITED!

Books, books, nothing but books!

I'm making a new system. Every time I finish a book, I'm going to put the title the book and what I thought of it. Here goes:
1.Farworld: Water Keep
This is a really exciting fantasy book. The main characters are Marcus, a physically disabled boy, and Kyja, a magic less girl from a world where magic is the norm. They are on a quest to find the water, earth, fire and air elementals to save Earth and Farworld. Read it!

Yesterday, I tested for my yellow belt with a black stripe in the middle in karate! And guess what else? I passed! My friends Gavin and John were watching as well. My sister's friend's sister is a black belt, and she said that I would have gotten tester of the day, which is self- explanatory, but they gave it to a boy named Quinn Hicken instead. Good for him! I broke my board in half with a jump snap kick on my first try. I almost killed a black belt, though. His name is Sabumin Conrad. Then I went to my friend Erin and Ryan's house and had an after test party that went from twelve thirty to eight thirty. We watched about seven Doctor Whos. Then I went home and watched Evil Roy Slade. Then I went to bed.

Yello!

Today at sparring class, we worked on speed and reflexes.  Y'know, I really don't think karate is safe.  When you get to green belt, (one belt away from my rank, acually,) you train with weapons.  That includes real, legit katanas, hook swords, and other sharp and dangerous swords and stuff.  Also, in breaking, (breaking wood boards) you can break you foot or toes, which isn't fun.  I almost murdered someone in sparring class this evening.  I kicked him in the side of the head, and he didn't have headgear on.  He kind of looked surprised for a mo, then fell on the ground with a dazed look on his face.  I ran up to him.
"Dude! Are you ok?"
and Clayton answered,
"What the freak just happened?"
and the black belt that was in charge of the class, Kaleb, said,
"Matt just kicked you in the head."
"Well, now my head feels like a piece of crap." Clayton said.
Then class was over.  Skiing last saturday was awful.  We did our lessons fine, but then on our first run, Claire was flashing down the hill, and said, as quietly as possible,
"Move!"
And then smashed into me.  Then she sat on the hill for fifteen minutes crying, then didn't talk for the rest of the time, and so we just sat on the bus for 2.5 hours, and then we went home.
I took a three hour nap and felt like someone had smashed my head in when I woke up because I had such a huge migrane.  We watched a Monk last night.  It was called Mr. Monk meets Dale the Whale.  You should watch it sometime. Here's a cat gif.

Jan 21, 2012: Today, I tested for and received my yellow belt in karate.  We started with our Basics, which are the easiest.  There is a Basic move in almost every technique.  Then we moved on to Sports Combinations.  Sport Combinations are a mixture of several different Basics.  Then we did Self- Defense.  That is where someone grabs your hand, shoulder, shirt, or hair.  Then, you have to get out with a certain technique.  Forms was next.  Forms is a combination of twenty different Basic blocks and strikes.  Soon after, I sparred my friend Erin Call.  I think we tied.  Then we did something called breaking.  It's where you have to put your foot or fist (though foot is easier) through a one inch thick piece of pinewood.  I used a Side kick, which is very hard to explain.  I was the first one to break my board, and I broke it with my first kick! That concluded the test, and then we bowed out and yelled;
"Hung Sung Soo Go! (always do your very best, and a Kwanganim (a fifth degree black belt) Rickard yelled) Testing Dismissed!" Then everybody yelled, "OMEGA!"

Dec. 31
Last night was crazy.  At seven o' five P.M., Mom, Dad, Spencer, Claire and I went to our friends the Taylors, and ate Zubs sandwiches, Joe Bandito's chips and salsa, lime and coconut lemon bars, chocolate chip cookies, grapes, and different veggies.  I was sitting with Maddie, Sena, Claire and Peyton Maughn, and all of us were trying to burp and laughing really hard. Then we went upstairs and played Just Dance 3.  After about an hour of JD3, we played a game called Spoons.  Say there are twelve people playing.  Put 11 plastic spoons in the middle of the circle the twelvle people will be sitting in.  Hand out four cards to each player, and one person will get an entire deck of cards.  The person draws a card from the top, checks if he wants it, and whether he/she wants it or not, they pass the card they drew or another from their hand to the next person.  When any person gets a four of a kind, they try and sneakily grab a spoon.  If anyone else sees a spoon gone, they grab a spoon, and so does everyone else, and one person is left without a spoon.  After you spell 'pig', with missing spoons is out, and it continues in that manner.  At midnight, we went outside and made a lot of noise, went home, and went to bed.
